Evaluation of the mean layer upper level flow shows the Bolivian High centered over Bolivia. This position supports a fairly strong subtropical flow that makes landfall nearly perpendicular to the Northern Andes of Chile� inducing lee-side perturbations.
Additionally, at 500-250 hPa, an area of divergence (blue) dominates northern Argentina-Paraguay.
