Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic depicted a shield of moderate to
heavy snow and mixed precipitation, on the northwest flank of a
coastal low and attached front analyzed near Cape Hatteras, NC.

Impactful wintry weather will continue tonight as snow, sleet, and
freezing rain continue across the Central Appalachians and
Mid-Atlantic sates. Over the Central Appalachians, there is a high
chance of 0.25" of ice accumulations, with locally higher amounts
above 0.5" possible. Meanwhile, a corridor of heavy snow will
expand along the I-95 corridor from Richmond to Washington D.C.,
leading to storm total snowfall of 4-8".
