Moderate to heavy snow will continue to track eastward across the
Middle Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Valleys and into the
Central Appalachians, far southern Mid-Atlantic, and the
tidewaters of Virginia and North Carolina tonight into Wednesday.
Additional snowfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are likely from
southern Missouri and northern Arkansas into western Kentucky
before snow ends late tonight to early Wednesday morning. Farther
east, accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are expected across southern
Delmarva, southeast Virginia, and northeast North Carolina. Heavy
snow will result in dangerous travel conditions and significant
disruptions to daily life. South of the snow, precipitation will
transition to an icy mix. The greatest concern for freezing rain
and significant icing will be across southeastern North Carolina,
where power outages are possible.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
